26 Months Old

Here Mena is eating her first Snickers bar from her Halloween bucket of goodies.

Mena weighs 31 pounds. She has had 8 teeth on bottom and now has 8 teeth on top also. Still no sign of her 2 year molars. She's wearing 3T shirts and 24 month pants.

LPS continues to work with Mena. Early Head Start has been a nice addition. EHS brings ideas each week of what we can play to help build Mena's language. The second picture Ruth from EHS took of us when Mena was dressing up like a fire fighter. Right now I estimate that Mena has a vocabulary of about 30 word approximations. Not all the words come out like you or I would say them, but she says them the same way everytime so Gene and I know what she's trying to tell us. It's been great to see her pride in herself when we understand what she is asking for or telling us!

Daycare Days

Mena and Traven are enjoying the fall days here in our new house. The first picture is when we made a baking soda volcano. I got a swimming pool for $1 at a garage sale so I can do messy activities in the house this winter. The kids loved how it bubbled over and were having fun feeling the foamy stuff.

Some days are cooler. Mena was excited to wear her new winter coat but didn't like the mittens. I ended up finding some toddler gloves that she is much happier wearing. She needs to be able to pick up all those treasures in the backyard. In the second picture she is saying "ooo" when she saw the neighbor's dog come outside.

Then the weather warmed up again so we only needed jackets. Playing in a leaf pile is so much fun! The last picture she is telling me to come see the leaf collection she brought to the picnic table.
