Bath Time Smiles

Maggie now likes all of her bath time. She smiles while we wash her body and she continues to smile when we wash her hair.

Peyton Comes to Play

Peyton came to play at our house while Beth was in Lincoln for a meeting. Mena was thrilled for the playdate and I thoroughly enjoyed the giggles Peyton got out of Mena!!

Stretching Out

Sometimes the answer to Maggie's fussiness is to let her lay down and play. She likes to swing her arms and kick her legs while we talk to her. She also likes looking at the star on the toy dangler. The star lights up when she makes one of the toys hanging by her to move.

28 Months Old (2 yrs 4 months)

We've had to deal with some meltdowns as Mena got used to waiting for what she needed when we were already doing something for Maggie, but mostly we're still getting lots of smiles from Mena.

Mena weighs 31 pounds.  She has the same 16 teeth with no signs of her 2 year molars.  She's still wearing size 3T shirts and 24 month pants.  Since the 26 month old post, Mena has learned to use scissors and has learned to find a circle and star when asked.  Gene and I don't feel Mena has show any regression since Maggie was born.  In fact, we feel she is talking more and trying to say more words since Maggie was born.  Every once in a while we even hear Mena put two words together, like "mama done."  Mena has also shown more interest in potty training although she doesn't go every time she sits on the potty chair.  Mena's teachers from LPS & EHS both took a break from visiting us after Maggie was born.  In January when Gene went back to work, I invited both of them to resume their weekly visits with Mena.  Mena was happy to see her teachers again.

Mena's Project Time

Mena hadn't had a chance to try using scissors since before Maggie was born. In January when I gave her some scissors, I was surprised at how she opened and closed them with one hand and then proceded to cut the paper. Mena enjoyed painting again when I was well enough to do projects with her. The last picture Mena is wearing her new purple peacock shirt that Grandma and Grandpa Frye got her for Christmas while she is playing with the food cutting toys they also bought her. As soon as the shirt has been washed Mena is choosing to wear it again so that's about twice a week!

Christmas Afternoon

Normally we celebrate Christmas with my family at my parent's house, but since I was recovering from surgery everyone came to our house. Mom said they would bring all the food so all I had to do was get dressed--I told my mom I would be sure to get dressed before they came! Luckily we're living in a bigger house now because we had the four of us plus Grandpa, Grandma, Aunt Beth and Uncle Tim with cousins Peyton and Tyler, and Aunt Peg and Uncle Jon with cousin Jake. The first picture is Aunt Beth with Maggie. The second picture is Aunt Beth giving Mena another piggy-back ride. The third picture is Uncle Tim holding Maggie while Peyton is smiling goofy! The fourth picture is Mena sitting on Grandma's lap.

Mena liked the Elmo phone, the shape puzzle, and the Doodle Pro, but it was the guitar she kept going back to play with!

Christmas Morning

My sister Peggy brought us the little red tree since I wasn't feeling up to setting up our big tree. The second picture is Mena getting her first look at the tree. The third picture is Mena asking if the present was for her and the forth picture is Mena ripping into her presents.
