Mena's First 48 Piece Puzzle

Tonight Mena finished this Cinderella puzzle that has 48 pieces.  Looks like it's time to buy more puzzles with more pieces!!

Maggie Writes Her Name

The girls were using their Easter stamps.  Maggie had filled the front of her page so I asked if she wanted to stamp on the back.  She said, "No.  That's where I write my name."  She then proceeded to write her "Mag" so well that I told her I wanted a picture of it!

Double Bed

The girls went to their dad's the Thursday of my spring break.  I painted my bed frame and then my dad brought my double bed down on Friday.  Now the girls can cuddle in bed with me on Saturday mornings.  I moved my twin bed to be Maggie's and threw away the old mattress set she'd been using.  Now we all have nice mattress sets.

The Children's Museum, Again!

Mena said, "I want a heart and a butterfly."

Maggie said, "I do it by myself!"

Maggie beat me at tic-tac-toe!  (I had to tell her where to put her third piece to win; she wanted to put it in a different box and would have lost.)

Mena lost interest before her building got very tall and Maggie lost interest before she put more than a couple blocks together.  They enjoy the dramatic play areas more so than the block area.

Mena climbed in the big chair, but Maggie was too scared and ran off to another play area.

Lots of water play!

Maggie sorted her frogs into their "houses."

Driving in the semi-truck is lots of fun!

Mena didn't spend as much time as she has in the past in this tree house.  She's showing more interest in the other areas and broadening her horizons!

Mena was driving the ambulance and Maggie rode with me in the back.  I was the patient.

After arriving at the hospital, Mena took care of a baby and Maggie took care of me.  Maggie put her stethoscope in her ears and pressed the piece to my chest.  As she put her stethoscope away, she said, "I'm sorry that you don't have a heart."

The pet store was a hit today.

Walking their dogs proved quite difficult!!

Maggie helped me find the letters to spell her name.  She arranged them from right to left so I showed her that we have to write left to right.  Luckily, she didn't fight me too much when I corrected her direction.

In the big chair and in the little chair and back to the big chair!

A proud mommy moment when Maggie played Connect Four and then declared she needed to pick up her pieces and put them in the bucket!

We might want to start on the third floor next time.  The girls enjoy the airplanes but they got hungry for lunch so they didn't play in this area long.

We went to Amigos for lunch and then to Hobby Town for some new toys.  Mena's showing an interest in reading a clock so I found a wooden clock and I found some foam shoes so I can teach the girls how to tie a shoe.  We also picked out a kite since it was such a windy day.  After coming home we went to the playground.  By the time I got the kite up in the air, the girls had lost interest and were playing on the playground.  I got my tablet out and sat on a bench to read a book while the girls played.  I told them I wanted a little break and they did just great giving me a few minutes to relax!

Kindergarten Check-up

Mena had her kindergarten check-up today.  The doctor's office gave her a "Class of 2027" t-shirt to wear rather than an exam gown and she got to keep the t-shirt.  They gave her a bag of goodies, including a book, seeds, a tattoo, colors, coloring pages, and the t-shirt.  She felt like such a big girl!

Mena is 48 inches tall (85%), 49.2 pounds (83%), and BMI 16.35 (75-85%).  Dr Bernhardson said she's a healthy girl!

I've registered Mena for kindergarten at Kahoa Elementary.  The girls and I have gone around the outside of the building, looked in the windows, and looked at the playground.  Kindergarten Round-Up will be May 1st.  April 9th, we are touring Kahoa with Mena's dad so she can see the school while kids are in their classes.  Hopefully, Kindergarten Round-Up won't be too overwhelming for her since it will be her second time in the building.  I've already met with the coordinator and we're easing her into the change from Holmes Elementary to Kahoa Elementary.  She's excited for the change and I think it will be good.

Durham Museum

The girls and I went to Omaha after church.  We ate lunch at Spaghetti Works and then visited the Durham Museum.

First stop, the trolley.  It's their favorite so we begin and end our visits with the trolley.

This is how you sleep on the caboose according to Maggie, but I am a little suspicious that someone smiling that big is not really asleep!

Mena was excited to discover that she can fasten the seat belt on the chair all by herself.

Mena helped Maggie buckle in.

On the luxury train, we sat down to relax but the girls were too full of giggles to stay in place long!

The girls are getting braver to go into the tee-pee now.

Gotta try out the rocking chairs each time we visit.  Just as good as last time!

The girls discovered they can open some of the barrels by themselves during this visit.  I'm guessing this will be a new favorite thing to repeat at our next visit.

Driving the trolley before we leave for the day.

The driver's seat twists back and forth!

So much fun but now we have to go home.
