Spring Celebration and Preschool Graduation

Naomi, Mena, and Lauren before the party began.

The class sang some of their favorite songs.

Then each child showed their parents how to complete the obstacle course.

Mena commented, "The other kids get two parents with them, but I get three!"  I am glad she saw the good in the new organization of her family.  Here we are all eating lunch together.

Mena received her diploma from Ms. Haze.

Class photo.  I need to have Mena sit down with me and tell me everyone's names:
Teachers in Back:  Ms. Cathy, Ms. Jean, Ms. Linda, Ms. LaShawnda, and Ms. Haze.
Kids in Middle Row:  ?, ?, Naomi, ?, Josephine, ?, Mena, Reese, ?
Kids in Front Row:  Jose, ?, ?, Lauren, ?, Josiah, ?, ?

Everyone jumping to celebrate they are graduated!

Sunken Gardens

The girls and I visited the Sunken Gardens. We walked by the fish ponds. Mena was worried about the floating dead fish. She asked if it went to heaven. I told her yes. As we walked away, Mena stopped and knelt next to a bench and folded her hands. I heard "Jesus" and "fish" as she prayed. Then she got up and was ready to run around some more. Made me think "I must be doing something right as a mom!"

New Phone

I got a new cell phone and took this picture of Mena as my first picture with the new phone.  That night the girls and I talked about what alarms I needed to set for the next morning.  One for me at 6 am.  One for them at 6:45 am.  One for us to leave at 8 am.  I left the volume at the default setting.  Should have checked the loudness!  It scared the living daylights out of me the next morning.  It was so loud that it woke up both girls in their bedroom.  Mena came into my bedroom and asked what that noise was.  I told her it was my alarm and she told me I needed to turn it down because it woke her up!  Maggie then came in asking why it was so loud.  I told them I definitely needed to turn it down!!

Mother's Day Flowers

Mena made this flower for me in preschool.

The youth at our church sell flowers on Mother's Day as a fundraiser.  My friend Lori took my girls over to the table and paid for each of my girls to pick out a flower for me.  Mena chose the pink flower and Maggie chose the red one.  I am blessed with two wonderful daughters and with many supportive friends!

Mother's Day

After church on Mother's Day, we went out to eat with Lora, Shannon, Jacob, and Lora's mom, Becky.  We had a great Mother's Day as 3 single moms with our kids!

Cherub Choir on Mother's Day

Both Mena and Maggie did a great job singing all the words to the song.

Towards the end, Maggie quit doing the actions to the song and started playing with the skirt of her dress.  Good thing there were multiple layers to the skirt!

Mother's Day and Birthday Party for Grandma Frye

We grilled out hamburgers and hot dogs with my family to celebrate Mother's Day and Grandma's birthday since I'll be in China on her birthday.  Maggie is opening one of Grandma's cards for her.  Maggie then walked over and gave the money to Aunt Beth who told her she needed to give it to Grandma!

First Trip to the Lincoln Zoo 2014

If you look back at May 2013, you can compare this picture of Mena, Maggie, and Aurora to see how much they've grown in the last 12 months.

Mena didn't know how close this lama was to her and she walked away right after this so she never realized how close he was.  I suggested she feed the lamas, but she shook her head no with somewhat of a scared look on her face.

This was the first time Mena let a goat eat out of her hand.

Maggie stuck close to my side and had no desire to feed the animals.

There's a picture of the girls on the caterpillar in May 2013, also.

Notice Maggie's face when the boy stepped right between her hands!

That's Maggie peeking through the frog's mouth.

Angie and I thought it was a beautiful day to spend at the zoo!

Mena Chillin' Out

Mena pulled the picnic table over to the couch so she could put her feet up while she was watching tv!
